I’m starting off blogging my 2019 sessions with one of my last of the year. To be honest, I used to refer out extended family sessions. Feeling like they didn’t really suit my style of photography because they can require a lot of checking different group photos off a list, with less time to capture candid moments and genuine expressions. However, I’ve come to appreciate these sessions so much, especially with a family like this.
This session was a birthday gift for Donna, the grandmother of all those beautiful kiddos you see there. The entire family was so full of smiles, and the kids were the center of it all.
How fun would it be to have all these adorable grandkids with their giggles and hugs.
With enough time during a family sesssion, I can not only capture posed groupings, of individual families within the bigger family, but also the fun that goes one between those shots. I always tell clients that the most important thing during their session is to relax, have fun, and interact with each other.
I love when I get these kinds of funny expressions!
We ended up creating an album of the session for Donna, and I delivered it to her just as the world was coming to a giant pause due to Covid. I can only imagine and hope that it was a treasure to have during those first dark days of the pandemic.
