I love having a friend whose kids call me Auntie Cristen. And they are the sweetest and most adorable kiddos! So, when I found out that the amazing Yan Palmer was hosting a workshop in Washington, DC, where they live, I knew I had to attend. On top of a great opportunity to learn from a photographer I truly admire, it was the perfect excuse to visit Sherry and her family, and photograph them of course.
The timing couldn’t have been better, after being so inspired by Yan, whose beautiful work focuses on capturing families at home. Over the past year or two photographing families at home has become my favorite thing to do. You don’t need a green park or a beach with a sunset for your family photos. The most important thing is that you are together. And, as they say, there is no place like home.
