I’ve been photographing this sweet boy and his family since he was a newborn baby. I love to see them every year, because there are so many changes since the time before. These Brookline family portraits took place at Larz Anderson Park in September of 2017. Spencer was three and boy was he ON THE GO!
Can you see the look in his eyes here — he’s totally checking something out that he needs to explore.
One great way to “contain” toddlers and preschoolers who are interested in running in every direction is to swing them between mom and dad! Always works like a charm!
And then sometimes they just need to be free. Because wouldn’t it be great to have all that energy and will to explore the world around you! This series cracks me up. He’s so happy!
He was good with a few breaks too, and of course this was the perfect time to grab some portraits.
And then we were off to the playground! Another reason why Larz Anderson is a great spot. Kids, especially this age, need to have the pressure off for the photo session to go well. Here, we have space for beautiful portraits, but also a place for diversion and FUN!
Spencer carried his little airplane with him for a lot of the session. I love when kids bring something that they love.
No session is complete without a couple of snuggles from mom.
And dad too, of course.
I think maybe he was tired by the time we got to the end! His parents and I were too, but we had lots of fun, and got a really great range of photos.
