Things can easliy get a little chaotic during a newborn session when there is an older sibling in the mix but I always give parents some tips ahead of time on how we can avoid that. For one, it’s really helpful if dad entertains the older kids while mom and I spend time getting photos of the new baby as well as some of him or her with mom. Then we can bring in dad and siblings. In this case, things worked out great, because the twin six year olds were at school when I arrived but would be dropped off by a friend about an hour into the session. This way we were able to photograph baby, mom, and dad, and then we were all ready for the twins when they got home from school. These two did so great! And beacuse we had gotten what we needed with their new brother before they arrived home, we could spend the rest of the time focusing on the family together and the older kids as individuals and just having fun! It’s really important to me that older sibilings know that they are just as important as they were before the new baby arrived, so I make sure they get equal time in front of the camera.
I’ve got to start out this post with this photo of baby Clark — I just love his round little cheeks!
And here we go with some shots of mom and dad and Clark at the beginning of the session before big brother & sister arrived.
Some more sleepy newborn photos:
And of course, baby toes.
Then School was out and it was time for the fun to start with the whole family!
And I just love this one. : )
