If you’ve visited my Seniors page, you may know that I offer two main options for Senior Session packages. The Simple Session, which is usually about 20-30 minutes, at a location in or near Andover; or the Custom Session, which can be up to two hours at the location of your choice (city, beach, or elsewhere). Since the Simple Session is short, there isn’t usually enough time for a complete wardrobe change, though some Seniors bring an alternative top to change into. However, with the Custom Session, we have plenty of time for a wardrobe change or two, and in fact, I would encourage it.
I recently photographed Heather’s Senior Session in York Maine (a Custom Session), and she did a fantastic job of choosing her wardrobe. As you can see below, these three simple outfits gave her the perfect range of looks, covering classic, trendy, and dressy.
Heather started with a simple top and white jeans — casual and a great look for a summer session.
And the color of her top really brought out her beautiful eyes.
A quick trip to the car (there isn’t always a place to change depending on the location!), and she came back in this long sweater, tank and jeans. I love the use of layering, and the fringe details on this sweater.
We moved to our second location a three minute drive away, and did a few shots in the second outfit there — the long sweater added a great flowy element that was fun to play with.
Next up was a pretty white dress that was just perfect for the beach. We got so lucky with the light and the cloud formations that night too. It was just gorgeous. Blue or white jeans are always a classic look for Senior photos but a dress like this was a great way to end the session, and again, offer an opportunity to show a little movement in the images.
Of course mom came dressed to pop into a photo at the end of the session. I’m always happy when parents are willing to get into a photo or two!
If you have a custom session coming up, definitely put in some time to think about wardrobe options. I am always happy to take a peek at your ideas and let you know what I think, but mostly its important that you feel great in your outfits, and that they help you express who you are.
